CATCH

CATCH is a free NHS health app for parents and carers of children from pregnancy to age 5.

This benefits parents by supplying them with effective trustworthy health advice to better care for their children at home. A secondary benefit is the reduction in unnecessary attendances to A&E, when self-care would be the better course of action. Advice is supplied on a need-to-know basis by entering a child’s age the app will drip-feed content relevant to that level of development in the child’s early years. Highly localised services such as clinics, pharmacies and support groups are made available by map and dynamic links in relevant articles.

CATCH is essentially a content aggregator for trusted health advice. Participating partner NHS organisations, charities and health condition specialists sign off on all aggregated health articles before they are published to the app feed.

This is done via a bespoke backend system which acts as a CMS, analytics engine, content editor, verification tool and publishing system.

Participating NHS CCGs gain informative insights into analytics for their given area. Including data such as: Most popular articles, number of active users, returning users and new users. These can be interpreted geographically and chronologically to determine public interest in specific health topics, monitor trends for times of year or to gauge if increased awareness of topics has any inferred impact on NHS services. The research on this is ongoing and shows great signs of promise.

My role on this project from inception was to develop the brand, app UX/UI, backend CMS, website and marketing collateral.

Initially a venture undertaken by East Cheshire Council, Eastern Cheshire CCG, Southern Cheshire CCG and Damibu. It’s value potential was such that it was quickly adopted by multiple NHS CCG’s across the North-West.
